Admont is one of the oldest settlements in Styria, first mentioned in 859, the world-famous Benedictine Abbey was founded in 1074.
There are written records of the current building of the Hotel die Traube from 1533, when Jakob Lederer became the owner of the building after Jakob Weber, and after several changes of ownership, Tobias Ritzinger opened the first inn here.
After 1825, the Walchenberger family also operated a hat shop in the building in addition to the restaurant, hence the name „Hutterer“.
In 1923 Giselbert Bretscherer and in 1934 his son Michael took over the „Gasthof zum Hutterer“ and established a butcher shop here.
Between 1957 and 1972, the former inn served as a boarding house.
